Camp was a Roaring Success!

Thank you for all of your support!

The Year 4's had a blast on camp this year!  We had a fabulous group of children who participated with enthusiasm and a 'Yes, we can' attitude (Bob the Builder, circa 1999).
We hope you enjoyed the pictures on 'Cover It Live'.

No Homework This Week!

As camp is on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the children will not have homework this week.

Camp Reminders

Camp is Wednesday!!!
A big thank you to everyone who has brought in snacks for camp.  If you have not done so please remember to bring in the snacks on Monday.

It is a good idea to get your child to help pack their camp bag.  Talk to them about what to wear each day so they do not wear the same thing for 3 days, stinky!!!!

Pack extra set of clothes in the day bag in case it is wet on the Wednesday.

Exciting times, camp here were come!  Yeah!

Please return this form to us as soon as possible.

Camp Friendly Reminder

Thank you to the parents who have returned the camp forms already.  As camp is approaching at an alarming rate we would ask any outstanding camp forms be returned to school ASAP.
As mentioned at the camp meeting, we would like each child to bring in a small/multi pack of biscuits (like Oreos, koalas or chips ahoy), seaweed, rice crackers, Ritz snack biscuits etc. A box will be placed in the crush area for children to put the snacks in to be transported to camp.  These snacks will be shared among the children during the camp.

The Pitch

Year 4 will begin going to the pitch on Thursday 6th November (this week).  This will replace the class PE sessions and ultimately affect the days the kids wear PE kits.

4W change from Monday to Thursday.
4M change  from Wednesday to Thursday.
4C change from Friday to Thursday.

Please note that lunch times will not be affected on pitch days.

Ocean Park Excursion

We are in the very fortunate position to offer our Year 4 students an excursion to
Ocean Park as part of our second UOI, Sharing the Planet.  Due to a cancelation
and a long waiting list, we were very lucky to be offered Friday 31st October at
9.30am. As a result, students will need to be in school by 8.15am.  We realise that this impacts on students who come to school on the late buses; it would be much appreciated if you could arrange an alternative mode of transport for this 1 off special event i.e. car pooling, MTR or other.
We are sorry for causing such an inconvenience; however we do feel that the children will gain so much from such a terrific experience.

There is a $100 fee for the trip which includes an interactive, educational experience with a dolphin, a seal or a panda!  Yearly passes for Ocean Park do not cover this excursion.  This is not a shopping trip so no extra money will be required.

Children will need to bring their own snacks and lunch so Deli Fresh will need to be cancelled for that day.  More detailed information to follow on the weekly update.

Please complete the permission slip below and return to class teachers as soon as possible.  Parent helpers will be selected on a first come, first serve basis and will be notified nearer to the time.

FAQ
  1. Can I come to Ocean Park paying my own way, even if I am not a parent helper?
The short answer here is no.  The programs we are attending are very number specific.

     2.  Can I stay at Ocean Park with my child after the program?
Again, the answer is no, sorry.  We will be leaving to school after the kids eat their lunch.
We will be back at school for the final sessions of the day.

Finally, a full week!

 Fireworks graphics

What a joy to have a full week of 'NORMAL' routine.  The kids have gained a lot of on-task time this week and have worked to get to the end of our units in English, UOI and Maths.  Next week is only 2 days of school time but it will be riddled with assessments, really looking forward to it!

We hope you enjoy the few family days that you have together while celebrating National Day. The teachers will be hard at work learning about the wonderful world of science on the Friday while all the kids are sleeping in.

Thank You Mrs Chen

The year group was delighted to share the stories of Mrs Chen's life and how it has framed her beliefs and values.  We all learned so much from her wonderful talk.

Thank you Mr McCoy

Matthew (4C) was proud to present his dad to the Year 4 classes this week. Mr McCoy treated us and helped us to learn more about our UOI by sharing his beliefs and values. Who would have thought that a wallaby could be such a wonderful metaphor for Life. For further information, ask your kids. Thank you Mr McCoy

Random Acts of Kindness

At assembly this week Mr Pheasant presented a wonderful show about random acts of kindness.  Please view the video below and talk about random acts of kindness that you can do as a family.  Remember its the small things you do that have the biggest impact.
